Next Fixture – Dorchester RFC

Our next match is against Dorchester RFC on 15th November at 1pm – a Remembrance match and a festival day at their club.

The fixture, a 15-a-side veterans full contact match, has been organised by our very own Marcus Seaton – Dorchester Club Captain and England Deaf Rugby regular – so the day promises to be a fun-packed outing for spectators as well as players and we will be warmly welcomed.

Victory in Stratford (and next match details)

A huge congratulations to all players who turned out last week to play a long overdue 15s match to secure Victory in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Our opponents were Shottery RFC – a home club to some of our members, the fixture organised by QM Martyn Bodie. Facing off at Stratford RFC’s ground in Warwickshire, Shottery proved to be very well matched opposition and put up a very challenging defense against a mixture of Fubars originals, new Fubars, and two players from our home club Old Leamingtonians.


The match came down to a nailbiting few mins, but we came away with a very well deserved Victory.

The weekend before this match also saw our club turn out for a touch rugby tournament in at Porth RFC in South Wales – although rained off by a vicious thunderstorm in the closing stages, we finished tied place for the Plate. Achieved through a mixture of Fubars players and Porth players to form a rag tag side at what started as a fun day out, but ended with practically swimming to the clubhouse after helping rescue tentage from the festival stands that hadn’t yet been ripped apart. One good outcome – we picked up some new members for the club, local veterans who have now signed up and will hopefully be at our next match. Thank you to Dave Downes for squaring this event away!

The RAMIT rugby team, also known as Rugby Against Mental Illness, is a charitable rugby team dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental health. The team’s primary mission is to raise awareness and funds for frontline mental health services, with the goal of encouraging men worldwide to feel confident in discussing their mental health challenges.

This match will be a curtain raiser for the NEATH RFC versus THE FIJIANS later at the same venue.

Touch rugby fixture inbound!

FuBars – our next fixture will be a touch rugby match versus Harbury RFC on the 29th March.

  • Kick off on 29th March, 1.30pm at Harbury RFC, Waterloo Fields, Middle Rd, Harbury CV33 9JN
  • 7 – 12 a side depending on numbers (we are looking good with players on and off Spond ready to go).
  • 15mins each way of touch rugby.
  • Changing rooms and showers available post game.
  • Food served around 2.30pm followed by Harbury 1stXV match for anyone that wants to stick around to watch.
  • Parking available.
  • Dress code after the match: jacket, shirt , club tie.

FuBars are thrilled to report a hard-fought 15-10 win over House of Commons and Lords RFC in a closely contested match that was unfortunately cut short due to an injury. The game, played in four quarters of 15 minutes each, saw FuBars draw first blood, but HCL quickly responded with two scores to take a 10-5 lead. However, our team showed great resilience and determination, clawing back to level the score in the third quarter and then taking the lead with an early score in the fourth quarter. With the score at 15-10 in our favour, the match was abandoned at the 57-minute mark due to a serious injury to an HCL player requiring medical attention on the pitch. Despite the unconventional ending, this win is a testament to the team’s unwavering effort and tenacity. We are grateful for the fantastic turnout of players who travelled from far and wide to participate, as well as the enthusiastic support from our travelling fans, partners, and children who cheered us on to victory. This victory is a welcome boost for FuBars, and we look forward to facing HCL again in the future. Well done to all involved!
